Dear Members and Friends of the Sam Cary Bar Association:

Welcome to the Sam Cary Bar Association website. As a founding member of the Sam Cary Bar Association, I am excited about the opportunity to serve as its President for 2010. The primary reasons the organization was established were: to serve the professional needs of its membership; to provide high quality legal services to our clients who more likely than not were people of color, who had limited access to mainstream legal services at affordable rates; to be role models for young people of color; and to provide community outreach programs and services for populations in need. In 2010 we will continue to pursue those goals by undertaking the following activities and services:

• Annual Scholarship Gala on February 5^th with Congresswoman Diana DeGette as the keynote speaker and we will honor 3 “Women of Wisdom” who are members of our bar.

• Renewal of collaborative efforts with other Colorado Specialty Bars, regarding our common interests to effect equity and fairness for all.

• Advocate for the selection of highly qualified Specialty Bar candidates for judicial positions.

Participate with The Colorado Lawyers for Civil Rights and various parent and community based organizations to evaluate the No Child Left Behind Act, the Denver Public School closings and restructuring of schools and curriculum.
